Effects of groundnut intercropping with sugarcane in spring season |
In context of doubling of farmer’s income, it is required to move towards modern and upgraded farming system. The objective is how we can enhance income of sugarcane growers for which the farmers adopting different interventions on same farm in same time, using modern machinery, friendly crop selection, proper conservation of natural resources etc. Monoculture sugarcane requires high input cost and lower net return as it affected by weed population for nutrient, water competition and also it invites pests. Krishi Vigyan Kendra-II, Sitapur conducted trials among sugarcane farmer’s fields by intercropping of groundnut in spring planted sugarcane. The summer groundnut (Variety.T.G.37-A) were sown in February-march in single and paired row model between trench planted sugarcane (variety- Co-BOSI-435) 3x3. It was found that yield of groundnut with single row planted method recorded 19.25q/ Ha while with paired row planted method recorded 23.75q/ Ha. The yield of sugarcane with single row planted groundnut was recorded 12.4t/Ha while with paired row planted groundnut cane yield was 12.6t/Ha. The net return and B:C ratio in Sugarcane with single row planted groundnut was 4,03,475 and 5.64:1 while in Sugarcane with paired row planted groundnut was recorded 4,30,275 and 5.85:1. |
